Guest Rose
Hey everyone, I am not an avid runner and have been trying for years to stick with it. I used the CK5 last spring and ran my first 5K ever. It was such an amazing feeling. I am currently in week 4 of CK10 as I am attempting to run a 10K next spring, but the weather here has taken a turn. It has become very cold. I invested in some gortex runners with better traction for slippery road conditions, but I wondered if anyone had any other tips or ideas to help stay warm. I much prefer to run outside than on the treadmill.
KellyAnn
Hi Rose. Good for you for wanting to run through the winter. Depending on how cold it Is where you are?? I'm not a cold weather runner as I live in the dirt. Too muddy, so my winter runs are inside. I would look into warm weather running gear for sure if you still want to run outdoors. Maybe someone who runs in the cold will respond here. Good luck. Proud of you.
Timb113
Rose, I run in the morning, when the temp here is usually in the mid-30s (F). I find that just getting something that keeps the cold air off the skin is best. It doesn't need to be really think or bulky, or that just becomes restricting. Once you've gotten 10-15 minutes into you run, you'll be warmed up from the exercise anyway. A key for me is a hat to keep my head warm, and that's something that easy enough to carry for the remainder of your run if you become too warm. KellyAnn
Hi Timb, Great advice. My husband swears by the heat escaping out of your head. Keep the head and your core warm. And you will be warm.

Guest Guest
I run in cold weather...Canadian cold weather -20C...first factor temp with windchill and dress for about 10 degrees above that...I wear a moisture wicking base layer and then a fleecy layer that has a wind proof outer lining, hat and mittens....a scarf for really cold days to ease the throat burn....hope that helps
Guest Patti
Consider a hat and a headband ear muff - just the thin cloth. I also have running gloves but usually take them off about half way. If it's super cold I just layer up... A couple of running shirts... A scarf even, and some kind of wind breaker with pockets to stuff the gear I remove along the way.
