Guest Erin
I have really been struggling with going from 3min-5min. (week4) I won't give up but I do sometimes walk for 30-45secs. during the 5 min. Any advice? lilmouse97
Guest Jennc01033
Push through 10 seconds at a time. When you are running and it feels like you can't breathe and your legs are turning to jelly, pick a marker ahead of you and say, "When I get to that spot, I can walk." Once there, lie to yourself again. Its as much mind work as anything. Focus on whatever it is that drives you. Visualize yourself finishing your first 5k, holding a future grandchild, walking tall at 90 when all your friends are hunchbacked. Whatever was your motivation, focus on that and that alone. StacyChipa
Make sure you dont forget to breathe. If you dont breathe correctly, you will get tired faster. You have to breathe in rythm for running a longer distance.
bethperry
Try changing your stride for a few steps - or breathing very deeply once or twice. Plan your play list to have the most motivational music right at that point where you want to quit. And like the person above, I lie to myself. "I'm not going to run 5 minutes (or 8 or 10 or 20 or 28!). I'm just going to run. I like to run so I'm just going to run." When it gets tough, I say, "I'm just running. It's not that deep. Just running. I can do a little more."
Guest Fatruns
I felt it was a huge jump from 3-5mins too! But like what everyone else has said.. You gotta push through - slow down your pace but keep that "running" movement even if it means you're actually going slower than if u were walking! Guest dan09554
3 minutes was tough. Today I completed week 3 day 3 and jogged every second of the 3 minutes. I'm trying not to psych myself out too much about the 5 minutes. It may take an extra session or two.... But I'll do it. Week 4 day 1 will be Friday
Guest Emily
Just finished the dreaded 20- minute jog in week 5 day 3... My motivation went something like "OK, the app will tell me when I'm halfway, no reason to check the time until then... Oh heck, hey... I already did 6 minutes. 14 left? Heck, I ran that earlier in the week, I can do this..." "Oh, minutes left? Is that it? I ran that after work the other day. Just keep going." "What? 3 more minutes? I've been running that for rweeks..." It was tough but I did it! enigmaticchic
