brandylh
Hi All! My name is Brandy. I am 54 and live in Central Massachusetts. I am currently on day 2 week 3 of C25K program. I have been morbidly obese for most of my life and have tried everything under the sun to lose weight and feel better about myself, including gastric bypass surgery 11 years ago. Oh, I did lose a lot of weight with that, but wasn`t physically healthy,. I never made it to my goal weight. At my heaviest I was 328lbs.I got down to about 210 after the surgery but wasn`t exercising. Then my weight shot back up...and up...and up. on 4/4/2014 I weighed in at 273.7! I was so scared...I could see that 300 lb. mark looming up again. My Dr. recommended walking everyday. I tried but had no motivation. On May 17th my husband and I got the FitBit Flex and I saw how little I was actually moving. I call it my life saving device!! I went from barely making 6000 steps a day to getting over 12,000 steps a day on most days! We also use the LoseIt program to track our eating and nutrition. Once I started walking a lot, I decided I needed to try walking a 5k. I was shooting for next spring, but both my Dr. and my Chiropractor told me I was ready NOW, so I registered for a 5k coming up on Nov.22nd! FitBit friends told me about this app and my first response was ...I don`t run! I have not been able to run since by elementary school days, chasing after my younger brothers! BUT I downloaded it and started using it anyway. At first I was very self conscious, so did my walking/jogging in my 60ft. driveway, but now I don`t care what people think and workout on the road. I then went from 90second intervals in week 2 to 3 minute intervals this week. I didn`t think I could do it, but I am not having any problems with it!! Sorry for such a long introduction, but I just wanted to say how much I am loving this program! By the way, this morning I weighed in at 207.2 lbs.!! About what I weighed 40 years ago!!
