Guest Miranda
It's getting pretty cold out and I would like to keep running outdoors. I am on week 5. What's the best clothing etc to run with in the cold? Any advice would be appreciated.
KellyAnn
Hi there Miranda. Good for you for still going outdoors. I'm in Utah this week and the for a few days it was soooo cold out. Really cold. 37 degrees. I usually layer. I had on my running pants, bra top, tshirt and sweat jacket. I wore it the whole time. But if I got hot, I'd wrap the sweat jacket around my waist. In Nevada, where I live , I can leave my jacket hanging on a fence and get it on the way back. Here I cant. Anything over 45 degrees I'm usually ok without a jacket on. I'm usually stuck indoors in the winter as our dirt road gets too muddy. Keep me posted Happy running.
Nev
I just wear a vest, hoodie and shorts when I run at normally around 9-10 pm it's about 6-8 degrees Celsius when I run. Dunno what that is in Fahrenheit? 42-46 degrees? But saying that, I love being cold, being hot feels unnatural haha KellyAnn

Guest tom
Look for a head covering that goes over the ears made for running. Some have headphone slits cut in them. Covering your ears really helps when it gets cold. Also: Chapstick.

Guest Jason
How about clothing ideas for Michigan? Is it good to run outside in 20 degree weather? jenneratty
jenneratty
I'm also doing C25K outdoors in Michigan and half of my runs have been when it's below freezing out. So far I've been fine in sweatpants and a T-shirt with my beloved dayglo green rain jacket, a stocking hat, and light gloves, but it isn't actually cold out yet. Is running outdoors in the northern Midwest a fool's errand or has anyone here had experience with it?
Guest Cortney
I am in Omaha and with windchill it has gotten down to negative 5 and. I am still running outdoors.. I typically wear an under armour fitted long sleeve shirt, an asics half zip thermopolis jacket, asics thermopolis tights, windproof gloves, a headband and an under armour cap. When the wind is going, l also add my windproof jacket that I got from cabelas and I have been nice and warm, Sometimes I have even had to lose the hat or gloves during a run as the thermal gear really traps the heat.hope this helps!
