Make sure you are stretching your calf muscles before you begin your run, and drink at least 8oz of water, especially if you run first thing in the morning.  Both have helped me tremendously!

I would suggest to make sure that you warm up properly. Do light stretches on your callfs but do not over stretch.Make sure you have the right fitting shoes. A lot of people wear calf sleeves during or after the runs for recovery. I wear mine after long runs the whole day pretty much and my muscles feel great.

I have been running with the C25K app for a couple of months now.  I should be done, but am struggling with week 5- mostly because my calves hurt so bad and I have to walk to relieve the pain.  I bought new running shoes, and they have helped but my calves still hurt.  I'm trying really hard to keep myself hydrated with water and stretch before my runs.  Other suggestions?

I had A similar issue when I did a training program before and tried everything from water to new shoes and nothing helped, until I got a compression sleeve for my leg. Honestly the relief was amazing. I wore it when I ran because when I stopped running the pain stopped. Also used a foam roller a bit to ease it after running. I've been told that it's chronic compartment syndrome, where blood gets trapped in your muscle and it's the swelling of it that causes the pain and pressure. Also I slowed down a lot and changed my stride so that I take really short steps (3 per second). I would definitely repeat weeks and don't push too much it'll make it worse.
