Hi Mike

I've been on this 4 weeks now and am absolutely loving C25K.  I'd practically done no exercise for about 7 years and was desperate to get myself back on track as I was slowly getting higher up the scales with each passing year.  I finally put a halt to that weight increase and over these four weeks I've lost 10 pounds by following this great app and being sensible about my eating (also using the myfitnesspal app).  Just get that first week over you and hopefully you'll catch the bug.  It's very normal to feel nervous about kicking this off but you just have to make a start and you'll be fine.  One other app I'd recommend is RockMyRun, listening to some tunes definitely helps to keep you going and there's a vast selection on there.  As for the running shoes, I went with some New Balance M680v3's and highly recommend them.  Nothing too costly and very comfortable.

Good luck, hope it goes well for you!  Looking forward to hearing of your progress....

Google running stores in your area. I live in Seattle, so there is a pretty big community of runners. But when I was looking for my shoes, I went to a specialty running store, they watched how I walked to tell how my foot hits the ground, and then sent me out to run in 5 or 6 different shoes. In the end I spent $120 on shoes, but it really is the best thing I think I have done for my health short of joining Weight Watchers in October (26 pounds down!!).

Mike... Felt the same way you do! The first week was hard for me too. I hadn't done extensive exercise in 2 years. I'm 43 years old and just decided to begin a lifestyle change. My goal by end of year is to lose 50 pounds and get tone! I have already completed the C25K program and currently I am down 15 pounds. I changed my eating as well... No fried foods, pasta, breads, sweet, sodas, etc.

Definitely don't start until you get proper shoes bc your feet will hurt you so bad and it could set you up for injury. I went to a store called Fleet Feet and they helped me get the proper shoe. I use the Nike app and rockmyrun app. Both are great!

You Can Do It!! Best of Luck!
