Tracyf12345
C25K week 4 day1 3rd attempt. Nope....didn't happen. Worse than 2nd try. I even had my mantra ready to go. 3 minutes 5 minutes 3 minutes 5 minutes. It didn't help. What can I blame it on this time? It was hot or maybe not hydrated. I don't know. I'm running out of excuses. I was going slow; embarrassing slow. I don't know. I'm stuck.

Guest TrishE
Hello Tracy! I promise it happens to everyone. Sometimes the body doesnt want to cooperate. You have to remember how much change its going through. Try going back a day until you kill it and then move on to week four. Running is HUGELY mental. If you give yourself a great boost by getting a killer time on w3d3 your brain may be in a better place. Its hard not to get discouraged, i get it. I hope this helps let us know how it goes! Tracyf12345
Thanks all for the support! I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know that the 4th time was the charm. It wasn't pretty but I did it. I was slow as a snail but I made it through. I wanted to stop in that last 5 minute run but I kept telling myself "Do it. You don't want to repeat week 4 day 1 again " I see some repeats in my future but that's ok. Badjenetix
Wendell
Way to get it done!! I hit my wall during this program more than once, believe me. In in the 5k phase of it right now, and at 2.5 miles, I wanted just walk, just for a minute. But I know if I do, because I have before, it's just not the same so I push through. It really is 80% mental, at least.

briscogun
I know how you feel, I just did W4D1 this morning and I can't believe I got through it. Going from 90 sec/3 minute runs to 3 min/5 minute runs was a huge jump for me physically and mentally, but I did it! I had to slow down from where I was doing Week 3 runs to make sure I didn't cough up a lung, but slow and steady got me there. I'm using the treadmill for my training (it's cold and snowy outside, and if I have to wake up at 5:00AM to go out in the cold I won't go at all, so it's down into the basement and onto the treadmill for me), and I was doing Week 3 at 6.0 running speed, but today I dialed it back to 5.5 on the first 3 runs and down to a 5.2/5.3 on that last 5 minute section. I think that's the best advice I saw on any of the message boards: just go slow. My competitiveness wants me to speed up and go for it, but I keep slowing myself down so that I can complete it all without hurting myself (which is what I did to myself 6-7 years ago when I started running the last time: shin splints and runner's knee from over-doing it). I haven't been looking ahead to the other weeks, but I think I saw that week 5 has 8 minute run segments, so I'm starting to get a little verklempt about next week, but I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...
