Too Ambitious?

I just completed week one of the program, while it was challenging and I am not as quick as of like, I managed to make it through without a hitch. I intend to start week 2 tomorrow. I signed up for a race before starting the program. The race is exactly 9 weeks from today. Am I being too ambitious? I didn't anticipate having to redo any weeks but, it appears that it happens often.

It's good to have something to aim for! I did my first 5K at the end of week 7. I ended up doing 3 short walks, but it didn't matter as I managed to complete it. 3 weeks later I managed to run all the way and knock over 2 minutes off my time. Signing yourself up for a 5K will mean that you give yourself a target but don't injure yourself by demanding too much of yourself in the process. Good luck!

I second what KellyAnn says - listen to your body.  I tried to push through an injury and it knocked me out of my shoes for 3 months waiting for the muscle to heal.  I'm only now restarting the program and I'll definitely be more careful when pain starts to lurk.  The hard part is telling the difference between "ordinary" pain and "injury" pain.

Cheerio, signing up for a 5K is NOT too ambitious. It gives you something to work for.

Like others said, please listen to your body. If you're injured or not ready when race day comes, you may need to walk it (or parts of it).

But signing up for it and committing training to it and attending are all positive actions.

How is your progress so far?
