Redden Posted September 26, 2015 Report Share Posted September 26, 2015 I've just finished week 4 of the programme all outside runs. For the next 2 weeks the children are on school holiday and it's going to be tricky to run outside, I can use the treadmill instead. Is this going to be bad for my training and if so what can I do to mitigate this? In all honesty as we move towards summer where I am training outside is going to get harder because of the temperature do I may v well end up using the treadmill more and more. I'm from the southern part of the U.S., and summers can be unbearable on a good day. Treadmills do propel you forward and have a bit more give when you run on them. If you are training for a race sometime soon, then it may help to run outside as much as you can to get used to the terrain and weather. If you're not and using this as an exercise program, you should be fine. I wouldn't worry about losing progress for the two weeks you need to use it. It may even help with speed and maintaining a steady pace. I know I have issues when running outside making sure I'm keeping my pace constant. excouch spud Posted October 28, 2015 Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 I tend to run on a treadmill in the end of the summer because of the heat and i like itbecause it helps me maintain my pace and i can even speed up a little to help me sp eed up my pace.
