samisosa182
Just downloaded the app on recommendation of a co-worker (who runs half marathons all the time). I've always been an active person playing softball, basketball, etc. However, I've never really been a small person. I'm currently about 75 pounds over weight and terrified to start(feel like I'm setting myself up to fail). But I feel I need to do this for my health, confidence and to be a good role model for my patients (I'm a physical therapist assistant). Any words of advice and/or motivation are GREATLY appreciated! samisosa182
Guest TrishE
Welcome starting an exercise program is definitely intimidating because you know it's not going to be easy. It will however be totally worth it. My advice, if you can invest in a good pair of running shoes, do it. It makes a huge difference. Be patient with yourself and your body. Being healthy is a lifestyle it wont happen quickly. You will have bad days just promise yourself you will never give up. Positive mind positive workout. best of luck we are all here for you. samisosa182
Thanks! I know it won't happen over night (although I wish itwould) but let's be honest I didn't get to this point overnight so I know it won't happen overnight. My fear is that I'll get frustrated and/or fall off track (as I have many times before) and not get back on track :-(
Guest TrishE
That's legit! Its a very easy thing to do. We are all here for you though if you need a push. You can post your workouts to our accountability page if you'd like to help keep you honest (as the expression goes). A lot of people keep tabs of their runs on there and it helps. Kbkelley
Hey everyone!! I started today and I feel like I failed but I'm not giving up yet! I am an active person I've been dancing my whole life however I've never been a runner. I'm about 100 pounds overweight but somehow in my head I feel like with the support of others I can be successful in this program. Anyone have advice to get through the first week? I only made it through the first 2 run/walk cycles. Help!
Guest TrishE
Welcome My advice is you just gotta push through. You're putting your body through something incredibly uncomfortable that its never done before so its fighting back! Dont let it win. You have to convince your brain that you can do it so it can convince your body. Positive mind positive work out. The first two weeks are hard but you can do it! good luck

Bekita06
There's a phrase I always remind myself of when I am afraid of failure."There is only one way you will be sure to fail:never try."

I'm about 100 pounds overweight but somehow in my head I feel like with the support of others I can be successful in this program. Anyone have advice to get through the first week? I only made it through the first 2 run/walk cycles. Help! I'm 6' 270 lbs and I demolished 1-1/2 miles without stopping, with the help of this app. It's made so that each run is attainable, which is why the running seems almost addictive. Don't give up, stick to the program, and you'll be running distances in no time. What helped me was telling people that I was going to run a 5k. If people are always asking you about it, you will be more likely to stick to it. Kinda like accidental accountability.
