Guest Robbie
I'm planning a day out at a local lake with swimming, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. I'm on a diet and diabetic. What sort of food do you suggest to keep my energy up during the day? I know granola bars from Walmart are pure sugar. I need really healthy alternatives I can eat on the go. Thanks! Timb113
Fruit! You can keep plenty of fresh fruit with you, at room (outdoor) temps that will give you plenty of energy (peaches, bananas, apples). Wash them before you go and you'll be in good shape. KellyAnn
Being a diabetic, what about string cheese, jerky, I love the Atkins Bars for lo sugar content. I would think granola bars would be the worst. Low salt deli meats. Nuts. I have low blood sugar and I do not tolerate sugar very well at all. SO when I go to the lake and we are kayaking, that is what I take. I like green apples too.
