Surprised to find it's too easy?
concretefingers replied to KeriPoppins's topic in Progress & Success Stories
Over weight doesn't automatically mean unfit! Maybe you have a job that has kept your aerobic capacity high? Or maybe you have a natural ability to run? How about using a app to log your speed? -

If you are using a android phone you have to create playlists with the default music app first. For my Motorola phone the app is google play. Google " how to make a playlist with Google play " to find out more.

Ran very slowly.... Couple of snails came past me! Map my run told me my pace was 3.4 mph. That is 0.4 mph faster than my 1mile dog walk. Finding it a bit depressing at the moment. Try to pep myself up reminding myself I'm 47 years old. I'm six stone overweight its going to be hard. But I'm not getting the buzz I used too. Today I ran for 25mins I should be stoked. But I'm not. Should be feeling proud of myself. My right leg doesn't work to well because I have cerebral palsy and can't move my right foot. It just plops down and flops about. Can't balance on it for 2 seconds. Why am I not euphoric by overcoming these hurdle? Who else had the week six blues? How did you keep going?.

Week five day three complete! Sort of.... Well today was supposed to be a rest day but the combination of yesterdays 12 min run and knowing that tomorrow I was not going to be able to run made me decide to try the big twenty minute run today. Warmed up set of . 8 mins 40 seconds into the run and I HAD to walk for 20 seconds (I timed it). Then I started running again. With a bit of deep breathing I ran the rest and 3.5 mins of the warm down. So would you count that as a completed week and move on or rerun W5D3? I feel elated and depressed at the same time.

Hello everybody my name is Peter I started C25k five weeks ago after going for health checkup and being told my blood pressure was high and I was 6 1/2 stone overweight. My gammy leg is from cerebral palsy with makes me uncoordinated and weaker on my right side. I avoided sports at school I was hopeless at everything and got teased relentlessly so just avoided it. I'm 47 1/2 years old. My blood pressure was 170/120 Week one, sixty seconds of running? Day 1 couldn't do it. Day two and day 3 could just do it with occasional few seconds of walking. Week two, 90 seconds of running. Yes I could. Week three, 3 whole minutes of running no way I will be able to do that. Well yes I could if I ran very very slowly. I'm thinking if I'm moving I'm improving. Week four, day one today. No way no way no way will I manage 5 mins of running with only short breaks. I put it off for a couple of hours and went out feeling I was about to fail... Well I did it very very very slowly but I definitely kept moving and didn't walk any of the runs.so I'm pleased. Looking forward to the rest of the runs this week. I'm posting here to keep a diary for myself and also to encourage others. If I can , you can.

@chinebo WelI I felt exactly the same. Struggled with week 2 had to walk a few seconds of the middle 90 second runs. .So when week 3 came round I was scared! Will I be able to run for 3 mins when 90 seconds has been hard? When I fail the 3 minute runs will I chuck my running shoes away? Will I give up on loosing weight and getting my blood pressure down without drugs? No way ! Week three started today (should have been last week but had a tooth abscess, and was on antibiotics ) Britain is cold right now , who runs with toothache, in the cold? not me. When I read though this thread last night it gave me the confidence to at least try W3 D1 and see if I could ? So what if I cant do it today? I will just redo week two and try again next week. I knew if I just kept trying I would get though. My mind was imagining 2,3,4,5 weeks of week 2. But if that what it takes then so be it. Well I did it! Without stopping and feel pretty good about it. The key was just to jog at a slower pace.Yes a couple of snails strolled past me and my running partner a 2 year dog pretty much could stop and do her business before the chain got tight as I ran past her, but I did it. looking forward to next week, next challenge, next success?
