  1. Thanks Trish - I am not very good when it comes to IT and this sort of thing but thought it as suspect. Such a shame as this is such a great forum. Hope you getting on well with your running
  2. Hi, I have posted under general discussion as I received an email which I don't think is genuine. Anyway, as I have not been on the forum for a few weeks thought I would post my progress to date. Beginning of January I started the couch to 10k ready to run a 10k on 26 April. So there I am age 40+ never ran before in my life and had not exercised for years! Always found exercise sooooooo boring. So here I am, 12 weeks on and THIS GIRL CAN RUN. I have followed the programme exactly and still can't believe that I can now run nearly 6 miles! I completed a 5k park run a few weeks ago, running it in 33 mins - can't tell you how pleased I was. I am on track to complete the 10k on 26 April. For me running first thing in morning is he best time - so tomorrow my alarm will go off at 4.45am and I will be out the door by 5am. When I run in the mornings I run along the main road, where there is traffic and cyclists going by, with me wearing reflective gear. When I run during the day or early evenings then I venture off the main road and enjoy running my local golf course. I think I have found a form of exercise that I can actually say I enjoy! Once I get going I get into it and do enjoy it, I love being outside in the fresh air and upon completing my run feel invigorated and a huge sense of achievement. So for anyone reading this who is at the start of their running journey..........if I can do this then so can you. Deb

  5. Good luck Tori - you can do this. At the age of 46, I never ever thought I would be able to jog..........6 weeks later I can now run for 25mins. I am loving it and feel a real sense of achievement. Let us know how you get on. Deb x
  6. Thanks for your messages of encouragement. Weaklegs - you will be fine. If I can do it you will be able too! How have you been finding the programme?
  7. This girl can ............ Jog 2 miles! When I started the programme 5 weeks ago, I never ever thought that I at the age of 46 would be able to jog/run for any length of time - but I can. I am so pleased with my progress and what I am achieving on a personal level. I am so glad that I found this app and this forum. Hope everyone else is doing well. Deb x
  8. Fantastic - Reading your post has given me confidence that I can do this too! I am coming to the end of week 4
  9. Ahhhh thanks for your lovely replies and words of encouragement. My alarm will be set in the morning ready for day 2 of week 3. Will keep you posted on my progress and watch this space for news that I have been brave enough to run in the daylight
  10. I was up bright and early again this morning to do day 1 of week 3. I am still at the stage where I will only run when it's dark so no one can really see me!!!!!! Still getting up T 5.30am to do my run before I go to work. Need to try and get out in the evening too, however think the mornings are better for me. Not sure about the whole breathing thing, I have started chewing gum to help me focus and regulate my breathing. Have to say, I found it hard today running for 3 mins but I did it and carried on. At this stage I just can't imagine being able to run for any length of time..........will see what happens. I am so pleased that I have got this far
  11. Hi, Heavy rain stopped play yesterday, so up at 5.30am to complete day 1 of week 2. Determined to do this despite being a middle aged woman who has always found an excuse not to exercise! I eat a healthy diet and my health is very important to me, hence me wanting to get fit. Would love to hear from anyone at the same stage as me, or from those who can remember what it's like to be at at week 2 - any hints and tips most welcome

  15. How did you get on????? I too started today and completed day 1, so gave myself a big pat on the back. We can do this together (virtually). I will be doing day 2 on Thursday morning
  16. Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and new to running. At the age of 46, I have always found an excuse not to exercise on a regular basis. I have always secretly admired those people who run. So when I was asked at work to take part in a 10K at the end of April, I initially said no and that I would never be able to run that far in a million years. I work in a fantastic team, with everyone being very encouraging and telling me that if I download a couch to 10K app, it really is achievable...........even for a middle aged woman like myself. So I set my alarm for 5.30 this morning..............unfortunately it did go off and whilst I contemplated hitting that snooze button, I knew that if I did not get up this morning and start the running programme then I never would. So pleased I got up and got on with it, even at such an early hour. I managed to complete day 1 and felt a huge sense of achievement. I know its very early days but I am determined to be able to run the 10K. For those of you thinking "is she mad" getting up so early????? For me running first thing in the morning is going to be the best time, as once I am home from work I tend to just want to chill and don't think I would be disciplined enough to go out for a run. Will keep you posted on my progress and look forward to being part of the forum and getting to know beginners like myself. Deb
