injury setback

Okay, so it's not MY injury but my running partner's. My dog has torn her ACL and can't run with me. She was the reason I was still going at 6 am. I can't seem to motivate myself to run in the evenings...I'm a dog groomer so by the time I get home, I'm tired. The past month I've been using my elliptical for 30-40 mins in the mornings and still doing weights between "run" days. Can I stay on track like this? As for my dog, physical therapy seems to be doing the trick, but I don't know if I'll run with her again.
