Hi everyone! My name is Candace and I just started C25k. I have lupus, and some of the medicine that I take has left me almost 100 pounds over weight. I just did my first day but i had to keep sitting down because i am so out of shape! I did complete it so i am really happy about that. If anyone has any tips or advice including about food I would be grateful. I am really ashamed because even my family makes fun of me and I want to lose the weight fast. I also plan to only run early morning so no one will see and start week one over until I dont take breaks. Any tips will help! Thanks in advance!

Hi Candace,

I am so sorry you  have Lupus.   First, have you been cleared for running by your Dr.?    If you have, look online for resources for exercising with Lupus.  That is the most important thing you need to do FIRST.  Research.

Then when you are ready, I worry about you and want the best for you to continue on.  I was tested for Lupus years ago and all is well.

I am really baffled as to why your family would make fun of your weight when it is not your fault at all, that is very hurtful.  My heart goes out to you.   Do not ever let anyone get you down at all.  They are not in your shoes.

ON A VERY HAPPY NOTE, You go this.  You can do it.  You can do anything you set your mind to. Congrats on starting and Welcome here, we got your back.  Get great shoes, a cute outfit (kidding), and go for it.

Walk if you have to and at least you are moving.  I am nervous about the 10k app this am as I am on Week 5, Day 1 today and I am waiting for it to warm up this am, and the runs are longer now.  Yikes, but I can do it.  My mind will give up before my body will.

ABOUT FOOD:  It is what you want to do.   I am a high protein girl,  so I love Paleo.  I have food ideas on Cavegirlcancook.com, there are so many out there and your body is different than mine.  I hate dieting, period.... Change your eating habits to a Lifestyle change.  Avoid Processed foods.  Anything not made by nature, uh gross.    So, tell me what you like and I can help you out in the Food area.

Good Luck and can't wait to hear from you. HUgs!

Thank you for the encouragement and advice! I honestly am not picky and will eat anything once BUT I am not the best cook. I eat alot of healthy choice meals (frozen). I did go to gnc and get meal replacement shakes and bars. I also got some pills for weight loss. I just hope it helps!

Hello!

I have lupus too. And just started to run to start to get fit. It has been a while since i exercised, so if it is the same for you, you should take it really slowly! Our muscles are week because of cortisone a d the increased weight. So be careful! A

About the diet, i had a special diet prepared by a nutritionist, and lost 7kg os 3 months, but my lupus doctor asked to stop because my inmune system started to fail (my white globs count started to go down). So if dieting , be careful too! Our health is a bit more fragile than the one of the rest of people, ypu can do anything you want, just need to be more patient and take it slow!

I understand your frustration with the weight and lost of physical endurance, you can do it, just be careful and listen carefully to you body!! After this first week run, i hace needed to sleep a nap to recover, i am sure eventually imwont needed
