Week 3 Day 3 ugh

When I started the program, I repeated week one. I did well the second time around. I did week 2 and felt pretty good. I just did W3 D2 and oh man... looks like I’m starting week 3 over on Wednesday  :mellow: My calves get so tight when I am running. During the second 3 minute run I started walking after the first minute. Ugh

I did week 3 this week (my 5th week with the app, I think). I never did make it up to 3 minutes. I was planning on just going on to week 4, but it might be good to do week 3 again. At this point, I seriously doubt I will ever run for 3 or 5 minutes straight, let alone as much as they expect us to run at the end of the app.

 

(Dang, there are a lot of I's in that.)

This morning, the app said to run 3 min, rest, then 5 minutes. Not doable at this time, so I reset the whole thing and did week 1 day 1. The positive thing is that 1 minute seems very doable, almost easy, so there has been improvement since the first week 1 day 1, 6 weeks ago.

Let us know how week 3 goes this week.

I repeated week 3 day 3 and tonight I'll be just walking briskly. I went on vacation and although went to a gym with a friend to use the treadmill that was the only day. I'm back home now and getting back to my routine. Tomorrow I'll start week 3 again. Oh, and by the way.... IT'S STILL SNOWING HERE! lol

I've been getting them a little bit, but only when I go uphill. I did leg stretches today after running/exercising. I think doing the right stretches after running/exercising might help. (I'm hoping.)

Maybe drinking at least 2 quarts of water a day (or more if you need it) and making sure you have minerals like calcium and magnesium and so forth will help. I really hope yours go away. They are not fun!

Was on the treadmill for my morning walk and kept it to 3mph. I was watching a climbing documentary on Netflix and before I knew it I had walked 2 miles. My shins didn't seem to hurt, but I didn't push it either. I figure tomorrow I'll try week 3 day 3 again and see how it goes. I definitely drink plenty of water. Sometimes I slosh when I walk LOL

Hopefully I can keep moving forward. It's really hard to not feel down about it... in other news: It's FRIDAY! :lol:

Went back to Week 2 Day 3 this morning. Week 3 was just too much and I was walking more than running. I figured at least with week 2 I was completing all the running. One thing I have been trying to do is remind myself even small successes are successes.... it is still tough some days. Today is one of them.

This morning I went with W2D3 again. My first mile was 17:31 so I was really happy. It means I am moving longer/faster. I think going back to week 2 was the right decision. I had a talk with my cousin's son, my second cousin I guess he would be? lol At any rate, he was my biggest influence to really get moving. He lost 100+ pounds (I need to lose 20) and he said it took him all of a year to be able to run. When he started he couldn't run 300 feet let alone 3 miles. It was a good reminder to myself to stop being so hard on myself. I know I'll get there and have already made some great strides. The tough part is sometimes feeling like I'm not making enough progress fast enough. I don't want to give up!

So finally my shins are feeling better. Not completely healed but very much improved. I went with W3D3 tonight. Once I finished I realized something. I can see why people give up. When I could see small improvements, like going from week 1 to completing week 2 I was so happy. Then I get into week 3 and man that last 3 minute run is killin me. So the struggle is feeling badly about it. It’s not like that feeling when you finish one and crush it. Make sense? I feel like I’m rambling here lol

And that's what helps me keep going! People here that are like me... just doing what they can. Making it work. On a side note, I went out for a walk at lunch and realized I was well past my usual point where my shins start to complain. - big smile going on here right now -

W3D3 with a slight change. One thing I was having trouble with was the second 3 minute run. This was my sticking point. Today I decided to continue my last 90 second walk for another 60 seconds leaving me with 2 minutes to run instead of 3. It helped! Like tremendously! Just that little change and I was able to finish without walking that last 3 minute run. Another day or two like this and I’m moving to week 4.

I just finished Week 3. I am able to do the first 3 minute run, though it definitely is hard. The second 3 minute run is sooo much harder for me. Today I had to stop halfway through that one, walk for thirty seconds, and start again. I just feel out of breath. But I’m going to just repeat Week 3 at least one more time. 

It’s just reassuring to see I’m not the only one who has to repeat weeks! I can’t imagine doing Week 4 yet omg
