Second workout, still alive-calves in pain?

Second run ever... for someone who is overweight and a smoker I think I'm doing quite well...! Felt I was going to pass out at some point but I survived, pushed through, and every time I finish my workout I feel great... so yeah... guess that's about it for now... although my calves hurt from time to time, hope that's normal! Any thoughts?

I'm just re-starting the program after finishing my first 5K (im working on increasing speed...because I was slow like a turtle, but I'm blaming that on the torrential rain) on sunday...when I first started, my knees hurt like hell...partially from my poor choice of running shoes and partially from my knees being angry at having to pull my big self around I guess. It gets better, or at least it did for me. Hang in there. You got this!

Thank you so much :) what shoes would you recommend ? Maybe that would help!  I hope it gets better soon, I keep running out of air but I guess that's ok for someone like me, who has stayed away from cardio her entire life lol

You're welcome! I went to a running store and had the dude fit my feet, because over-probation was causing my knee pain. Ended up with Saucony's. They are so much better than what I had! Most running stores will do fittings for free, and the shoe prices are comparable to what you'd pay at a sporting goods store. Good luck!
