Coderess
Hi guys ! I'm a programmer so I'm usually sitting in front of my Mac and get no exercise . I'm really motivated to change that by starting to run . I tried first a week ago and couldn't even do the first 60 seconds and I realized the shoes I was wearing weren't good for running . So I bought running shoes and tried again today. I got through only about a quarter of the workout but I did the full 60 seconds every time I got to the running part this time . I'm discouraged that I can't even do the first day. I'm planning to keep re-doing it until I finish. Is this normal ? Any tips ? I would appreciate any encouragement . Thanks loads ! torus_ot
First you have to switch from Mac to PC (programmers joke). It is normal, I am sitting behind computer 8 hours at work and then 2-3 hours at home. But before I started C25K I did few month walking. So my start of the program was OK, however my pace was more schlepping than jogging. Please keep trying the first week, but reduce the pace to "cannot run any slower". Replace any minutes you cannot run with double time walking. Also add walking in "between days".
Newtorunning
Hi. Please don't give up. Keep doing the program. I did not make it through the first work out. Could only do 4 of the runs but I walked the rest of the time. The second day I made it through 7 of the runs and on the third day I made it through all of them. I have never been one to exercise and I am in my 40s. I just started the fifth week and look back and think I never thought I could make it through the first week and I did. Keep at it! Good shoes make the difference and make sure to stretch before and after!
Coderess
Thanks for replying ! Torus_ot , just so I understand correctly. You're reccomending that I run as slow as possible?( I WAS running pretty fast). And to finish the workout even if I'm just walking . Right ? Those are good ideas thank you
Coderess
Newtorunning, thank you for the encouragement. I'm going to give it a try again. Did you go on to the second day even if you couldn't finish all the runs of the first day ? I was thinking I can redo the first day until I do all of it . Do you recommend that or not ? Thanks ! torus_ot
Â You're recommending that I run as slow as possible? Yes. It is common mistake - running too fast. You need to find your pace. Do not worry about speed, it will come. At the beginning your main goal is to complete the day and feel good about it. Â Since first three weeks are the same daily (you can peek at them in the app, or google "C25K" for text schedule) you can move on o the next day. But it is OK to repeat days or weeks if you want to be more sure in your strength. Coderess

Newtorunning
Yes I continued on to the next day and felt if I couldn't get it by the third day then I'd repeat it. Just keep at it. Also it's ok to jog at a slower pace and not run fast. Speed will come in time. The fact is you are still moving and not sitting. Keep going!!! Good luck!!
