Elliptical use?

Hi everyone, I will be starting day 1 tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone has done this program on an elliptical. I have bad knees and I'm just trying to find a way to get active for general health/getting rid of a little belly fat. I don't plan on running an actual 5k, I just like the idea of a structured workout. Anyone else tried this or have any success using an elliptical?
