Expensive new shoes making things worse?

I just invested quite a hefty sum in my first pair of real running shoes. I've been going to pt for over a month for

IT band injury among other tendonitis, ect. I went to a reputable local running store and was given 5-6 different options for my flat yet neutral feet. I went with the ON Cloudflyers because the arch support felt great in the shoe. I wore them yesterday to run errands and such and then went for a short run today (technically I'm week 8 Day 2 but after a month off, therapists orders, I'm back down to 1.5 miles and working my way back up..). My arch in my left foot killed me. My it band, hip, glut, si issues are on my right. About an hour after my run my low back/right hip have been worse than ever:( I am really hoping I didn't just drop a buck 50 on new shoes I can't wear. Any advice? Should I give it another try? PT tomorrow and probably going to call for an appt with a sports podiatrist. Running hurts:/

Irun... I'm sure that you did your research before buying the shoes... but 1 thing I have learned is that not only do I have to want the shoes in this case... but where I go to get them is almost more important... no offense to any good hard working teens on the site... but I know when I'm at the store getting fit I'd rather a person who has experience past reading the sale/product packet and spewing that as his sales pitch... I recently switched from Saucony run/gym shoes to the company INOV-8... and if this guy hadn't gone over the technology involved in these shoes, without having run in them I probably would have kept trying brands... end result is I bought an everyday/longer runs running shoe, a gym/outside cross trainer and a pair of great trail/obstacle course racing shoes... I've used them all, as well as, buying my 14 year old daughter the race one's... after that rant... I'd suggest looking into https://www.inov-8.com reading about them and maybe try them... good luck

I've been stung with expensive shoes before. Will never invest in Salomon again. I wasn't even a runner when I bought them, but given they're a trail runner I figured they'd be fine for my rough terrain bush walking, plus comfy for walking the kids to school. Less than 6 months the soles are shredded/overly worn down, and the specialty laces broke. I've never had a pair of shoes quit so quickly.

I've been reading on a PT page I get emails from that running is a learner skill, and people need to be taught how to run to prevent injury. Has your PT assessed your running style? Or just managing the injuries? Have you considered an osteopath?
