MrsUpton83
A couple years ago my husband was diagnosed as pre diabetic. He started the C25K program and is now 100 lbs lighter and is a triathlete. I was always the "in-shape" one, but two kids, college and work, plus lots of stress eating has me about 75 lbs over my goal weight. My husband has tried getting me to go running with him, but I can't keep up and it leaves me feeling defeated and out of shape and I give up. Not this time! I have 6 months before a vacation to the Dominican Republic and I want to be swim suit ready. My husband said he would run with me to keep me accountable, and he would match my pace. Any motivation or tips would be great!
Rob129
Hi, it sounds like you have a goal and good support. A couple of things have really helped me out: tracking what I eat (MyfitnessPal) and getting the right type of running shoe. I also went to a running clinic with a sports medicine doctor and physical theraptist. The information about my running style, posture and weaknesses has been very helpful. I've started to focus on strengthen my core muscles & gluteus medius in order to prevent injury and clear up nagging foot soreness. I think it's a good idea you had to run at the right pace so that you don't get discouraged. Focusing on completing the time splits and building up a base fitness level is the best objective at this stage. The pace will come.
