Need Help

Ok so I've been told by my wife and two young kids I need to exercise...which I do as I've gained a fair bit of weight. You know when you see a photo of you swimming and it's kinda scary...well that kind of weight.

Anyhow I've been a great runner in the past and when I have been fit I've quite enjoyed running. Problem is I'm now lazy, unmotivated and unfit yet I know I need to do something about it.

What are your tips for getting off the couch, getting motivated and maintaining that motivation long term? I'm keen to get rid of my belly an get back to being healthy but want the motivation to remain so...forever!

Well first step download Zen labs c25k app! Then if youre like me, stare at it for a week until you get enough courage to try it, just for a day just to see how it goes.

You just gotta give it 30 minutes of your day. It'll be hard theres no point in denying that but the minute you start you'll be a runner again :) that has to count for something right? Do it for the family but most importantly do it for you and your healthier smaller self.

Best of luck! I hope your next post will be after week 1 day 1. :) :)

Hi MartyQ, Welcome here.. Oh that ole motivation button in our heads, I used to have so much energy and now even myself has slowed down...

BUT YOU CAN DO IT!!. Put it in your Calendar, make it a priority, It does not take that long out of your day to do it! I love watching my shows at the end of the day, but dangit, If I can sit there for a few hours, I sure the heck can go out for walk/run, lift weights, whatever for 20 minutes. You will feel soooo good about yourself and DO IT FOR YOU! You will feel great, be happier, look great in that bathing suit, your kids are the best motivator ever and you will LIVE longer too!!! FOR YOUR KIDDOS!!!!

HEY, you can run next to them while they ride their bikes right? Run with the dog?, you can do exercise anywhere, lunges down the hallway, squats while talking on the phone, etc......

Keep us posted. IF YOU REALLY WANT SOME MOTIVATION - HERE YOU GO - MARTY, GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND GO DO IT!!! That make you feel better???? SO Proud of you and excited to see your progress.. Good Luck!
