It really what you prefer. Running is running :) running outside is great, I love it. It feels more open and there's more to look at. But running on a treadmill lets you run a little easier when its storming or its 100 degrees out. Lots of people are doing both. Switching from on to the other can be difficult but doable.

Best of luck to you!

Hi there RiRi,

Welcome on here. You can do this!!!!!! Treadmill is great of thats how you want to do it? Just remember that a treadmill will help tompropel you forward. Running outside is harder and preferred by most. Give yourself a challenge though and maybe add an incline to it?????? Keep us posted here.

Hi Kristi,

Treadmill is great too. Just remember that it will help to propel you forward, so make sure before you dona race, you try running outside too. Running on pavement is harder. But.......... All treadmills are different. Try and increase your speed too. I run between 4.5 and 5.5. But mine might be slower than yours.

Good luck to you all and Happy Running!!!

  • 3 weeks later...

I just did week 1 day 1 last night on a treadmill. I ended up walking and running both at a 3.2 speed no incline (but I have been sedentary for more than 3 years and have flat arches and a toddler that make it tough to run outside). I expect I will increase the speed and add incline as I get in better shape.
