Soccersqueeker
Since I don't have any exercising equipment at home, I downloaded this app in hopes of losing weight. I started "week 1 day 1" 2 or 3 days ago, but I can't seem to finish. I go for about 20 minutes before I just can't run anymore. Has this ever happened to anyone else? And does this app help you lose weight?
Katien
I'm new too and you did better than I on day 1. I could only do two of the 60 second jogs before having to power walk the rest. I'm just going to keep hammering at it <3 I think we ALL struggle. This isn't easy, and it isn't meant to be.
Guest TrishE
Welcome soccersqueeker! My advice, slow your roll meaning slow your running pace so youre running at a speed that enables you to finish the running segments. Even if it feels super slow dont worry this is all about building endurance. When you get that down then you can work on speed and distance. To answer your other question, yes running will help you lose weight. Its a great way to burn calories and get your heart pumping. Remember that its only half the battle though, your diet is also very important. Gotta make smart choices. Drink lots of water. Good luck! I hope you keep us posted
Soccersqueeker
Drinking lots of water isn't a problem. My whole life that's all we've ever had at the house besides milk. No soda or juice. But it's really hard for me to make smart choices when it comes to eating since I don't buy the groceries. I'm only 14 and my mom does the shopping, but it's not like she can afford to buy food for the family and then healthy food just for me. :/
Guest TrishE
Oh I see, I didnt realize you were 14. At your age your metabolism should still be really good, meaning the rate at which you burn off calories is really high. So just keep your portions smart and DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF. please. Soccersqueeker
Trust me, I won't starve myself. I mean, it might make me lose weight for a little while, but as soon as I start eating again, I'll gain more weight than I had before I started starving myself. And, yes. Everyone says at my age my metabolism is high, but, I am overweight. And it never hurts to get into the practice of exercising, right? Guest TrishE
Youre very right. Im sorry I just read so many stories about young people starving and or using other eating disorders to lose weight, Its so sad. Running and keeping your portions in control should help you get healthy and lose some weight. Do you play soccer?
Soccersqueeker
You don't have to apologize. I appreciate your concern. And sadly, no I don't play soccer. Not anymore. I used to, but then my brothers wanted to play as well, and it just got to be too much for the parents to have three kids in soccer. Lol. But I do enjoy outside activities, which is one reason I figured running would be a good way to get exercise.
Guest TrishE
Yep sports are a great way to get cross training plus you have a whole team of people who can give motivation. I really miss playing with a team all the time
Soccersqueeker
Yeah, I miss it, too. Definitely a good, fun way to get exercise. But it does get expensive. Between cleats, and Tshirts, and soccer balls...
