Hey guys! I'm new to working out and dieting so I don't exactly know what I'm doing yet (hehe) so I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips on what has worked the best for you all. I'm 5'5 and roughly 150lbs. I'd like to lose about 35 lbs. I'm in no hurry, I just know that exercise can only go so far if you don't diet. Help please!

Welcome devonbobevon!

You are absolutely right. Exercise is great but its only half the battle. Starting to diet and eat right isnt easy but when youre first starting there are lots of little things you can do to help ease you into a healthier diet. I love the 80/20 rule, that means 80% of the food you eat is healthy while the other 20% can be not so healthy. So replace snacks like chips and sugary things with fruits and veggies drink lots of water and cut out soda (even diet soda). If youre a bread person (like me) shoot for whole wheat or whole grain bread. I like to keep my sugar intake low. I havent been able to cut it out completely but I make sure whatever I eat that is processed has sugar under 7 grams.

Most importantly be patient with yourself when you first start, its not easy and self control comes with time and practice.

Good luck :)
