My Story So Far

This is my story thus far: Hello my name, well let's call me Dakota.... Because that's my name. I am 18 years old and all my life I've been overweight. Ever since around 1st grade I have consistently gained weight. About 10 months ago, I hit my heaviest at 285 pounds. Disgusted and fed up, I decided to make a change. So I started simple, first I stopped drinking pop/soda. Then I took another step, I started dieting by maintaining my calorie consumption to under 2000 calories. Then, over the next few months, for the first time in my life, I was consistently losing weight! At around 4 1/2 months, I was down around 50 pounds. Happy and far more confident, I stayed with it.

These last few months however have not been as easy, with my senior year of high school and my life just truly starting, I've been under so much stress that my weight loss took a back seat. A little over a week ago I had to run for something in gym class and I was in so much pain and discomfort, that I was sore for days. Even though I'm lighter than I've been in years, I was still so out of shape. So I decided enough is enough, I'm going to change myself so that on graduation day, I will finally be comfortable with my own body.

As of today I weight 213 pounds, and even though I am a thousand times better than I was, it's still not good enough! As someone once told me "The moment you stop being great is the moment you become complacent."
