Sciatica pain

Today will be w1d3 for me!!! After running day 2 on Sunday I had a huge flare up with sciatica pain in my left hip. I have been doing stretches and plan on going for an adjustment at my chiropractor this afternoon. My main question is should I try to push through day 3 today or wait until tomorrow. I don't want to discourage myself and not go nor do I want to risk serious injury. My sister in law who was a PE teacher for 25 years is suffering end stage fully progressed melanoma and I want to honor her in my first marathon and my next marathon and everyone after that... So any suggestions will be appreciated

Gigi, you have to listen to your body. I would say take the day off, and if feeling better, get after it tomorrow. I'm currently unable to run due to a knee problem because I overdid it. One day off is not going to derail your program, but running an extra day, when you probably shouldn't, could put you off the road for a week or more to recover.

Hopefully your chiropractor has a massage therapist. Ask her/him tif you have a rotated hip. if so they need to work the muscle loose so the chrio can pop it back into place. Sometimes takes a bit. If your toes point a bit outward when you stamnd that very well may be it. I had this problem and 2 years of pain before we figured it out. Takes time to retrain the muscle memory but I walk straight and pain free. My toes always face due north :)
