Help! My Ankles are killing me!

I have been trying to walk to gear up to start C25K soon as I am terribly out of shape.  When walking, I am having a terrible time with ankle pain.  It is a burning, excruciating pain that goes up the outside of my ankles.  From researching it appears to be possibly peroneal (sp?) tendonitis.  I am certain that it is related to both my size and my previous lack of activity but I am having a really hard time powering through it.  Will it go away in time?  Also, any suggestions to help to prevent/ease this pain in the mean-time would be greatly appreciated.  I am really psyched up and excited to start C25K and I don't want to lose that excitement over this.

I have the same problem. I recently walked a 5k and it was all I could do to get through the pain. After the first mile it eased up but I strained the muscle in my right leg and had to take time off to heal. Look up Lehigh university's YouTube video on Peroneal stretching. I do that A LOT! And use ice when it hurts (heat will make it worse). The biggest thing is to walk a lot. It will start to be easier and less painful the more you work it out. But don't push yourself so hard that you injure yourself. Good luck!
