Guest Jennifer
I am just finishing up week six. I pushed through the 8 minute runs and celebrated my own pr's and even ran my first 5k. The last few runs I feel as if I have gone backwards. 2 minutes feels like a struggle let alone 5 , I can't seem to get my breathing righ and I'm starting to feel discouraged. Has this happened to anyone else and do you have any advice on what I can do differently? Thanks in advance!
Guest Claire
Hi Jen, congrats for your 5K! It's awesome! I did not run a 5K yet but hopefully soon Sorry to hear about your issue...it never happenned to me but I already noticed that running is more struggling when I'm exhausted. I have more difficulties to catch my breath, feel more pain in my legs...maybe you're too tired and/or too stressed. It could be a consequence of too mYou already run a 5K so you definitively know your rhythm !!! If I were in your shoes I would just have some rest and run again. KellyAnn
Hi Jennifer, Claire gave great advice. If you feel like oyu are having breathing issues. Try some breathing exercises first. 3 times a day, do some deep breathing and fill your lungs. Hold, hold, let out. Look it up online and that will help. We don't breathe deep enough everyday. Keep us posted.
Guest Jennifer
Thanks! I looked up breathing exercises to do and I am starting them tomorrow. Now here is the next question. Breathe through the nose or mouth while running? I have been breathing through my mouth but am now finding conflicting opinions.
KellyAnn
Hey Jennifer, I breath pe through my nose and mouth but watch out for those bugs. Lol. I do diaphragm breathing too. Breathing deep through your chest, it fills your lungs full. Most of us don't breathe deep enough. We don't use our lungs capacity. Good luck.
