  1. I am 45 and a new runner, 30 lbs over weight and really out of shape. On week 1 day 2, after my run, I battled to stay awake all day. A few days later I ended up sick - sore throat, cough, laryngitis so I thought I was tired because I was getting sick. I kept going and while often tired did not experience that level of fatigue again until today. I have done fairly well. Week 2 went well although I was definitely struggling at the end of each run. I did an extra day of week two because I was still battling being sick and didn't think I should move up yet. I started week 3 on Tuesday and did it - but those 3 minute runs were killer. I did day 2 today and it was pretty much the same. But by lunchtime (I run at 6:45) I was done. I slept most of the afternoon and have been a zombie all evening. I just want to sleep. I am eating fine. I eat half a banana before I run and then finish it after. I am drinking plenty of water. I did some research on-line and have seen that sometimes over training can lead to after run fatigue. Could this be the problem? Should I have stayed with week 2 longer? Anyone else have this problem? I love running and am excited that I am making this a habit now but I can't afford to sleep away my workday and my kids need me to be awake. :-) Any thoughts appreciated!
  2. I did it! And I am so glad I did! I did walk more than run but I wasn't on the couch so yay! Thank you for your help!
  3. Ok so I woke up on Saturday with a sore throat and sneezing which turned into a raging head cold and no voice last night. I don't feel completely awful this morning but am afraid i am approaching the hibernating under the covers stage and am trying to decide whether to run. My husband thinks if I do I will get sicker. We are in Georgia for the week and it is 39 and that is pretty cold for this Florida girl. I am afraid if I don't, I will use this as an excuse and be "back on the couch". What would you do?
  4. Feeling better today... not sure what it was. I didn't eat before I ran, but I was starving afterward and ate 2 eggs scrambled with cheese and added some almonds. I drank water during the walking portions, but didn't drink a lot. Maybe that is the problem. How much water do you drink during?
  5. So I am new to this. I am 45, about 30-35 lbs overweight and not very fit at all. I did my first day Monday and really struggled with my breathing, etc., but afterward I felt great. I had a huge amount of energy all day. I couldn't wait for today's run. Well, today my breathing was better - still not quite right but I didn't feel nearly as winded and was beginning to get a rhythm. Ever since my run though - about 4.5 hours ago, I have been exhausted. I have been battling all day to stay awake. What's up??? Is this normal?
