Getting stuck on week 7

I am finding it really hard to run the whole 25 minutes consecutively!

I have been running almost every day in the morning (am also just recovering from a bit of a cold) and have definitely improved - but am just finding myself getting half way and then having to walk for a minute or two.

Same to me. But I still think it's better to do that anyway. Even with the one minute walk. I try to fasten and shorten my "minute" walk every time.

I'm no expert at running, having only completed the c25k a few weeks back, plus I run at our local sweatshop running community club, and the chap there says it can quite likely be something in your mind - if you want to run for 25 minutes, you need to tell your brain you are carrying on anyway!

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning and my brain was grumbling at me to stop for the first 2-3k.  I just drop the pace a little and carry on - once you get through that, it isn't so bad...

I still suffer from pace issues, i.e. despite having a watch I still set off too quickly (for me), and pay for it halfway through.  I haven't yet mustered that consistent pace despite trying to take it easy to start with.

Obviously if you're feeling pain, then that's a different matter...

I just finished Week 7 and am staring at that last week with trepidation. Fortunately, it is raining this morning and I'm saved from the decision for another day...

Anyway, I did do week 6 and 7 several times and I stopped in the middle of the 20+ minute runs a time or two. But actually I found that it was more difficult to get back into the rhythm than it was to push myself to keep going.

A couple "tricks" I've used: I plan my run to reach the halfway point at a location where the scenery is really good and I've got a bit of downhill to give me motivation for the return trip! Another is that I plan my playlist so the most motivational music helps my brain kick in right then. (Emeli Sande's Lifetime reminds me I'm doing this because I want to "last a lifetime" and Imagine Dragon's The River reminds me to "reach, it's not as hard as it seems.") And finally I switch up my stride for even a few steps and deepen my breathing for even a little bit and that helps get me over the hump!
