I would like to lose about 10-15 lbs. I haven’t had a weight problem until the last 6 months or so. I’m not a big eater. I eat fairly healthy. I watch fat grams. Doctor did complete check for thyroid etc. He has assured me it’s an age thing. Lol. Yay me! I’m turning 46 in a few weeks. lol. I started the C25K app yesterday. Any tips on diet or additional exercise that could get these extra few pounds off?

The C25K program is pretty good for starting into fitness, but don't forget that the majority of weight loss is going to come from the kitchen. Losing weight is more than just exercising. I'd definitely research about TDEE and the amount of energy that your body needs. After you learn that, plan out your meals so that you are getting enough essential nutrients each day, while still eating fewer calories than you need.

Just stick to the C25K app, listen to your doctor, and monitor your diet. You should lose those pounds in no time!

I’m also going to be 46 in a few weeks and gained a good 15 lbs in 2018. I just started the C25K last week. I’m going to try WWatchers. My friend lost 15 lbs in a month on it. Good luck!

I will soon be 48 - female, hypothyroid for many, many years, and battled with my weight since adolescence.

On more than one occasion, I have a lost significant amounts, and maintained for a while, on weight watchers, at different points in my life.

A few years ago I did a certain diet, tailored to my needs and preferences by a personal trainer,  and had tremendous success - losing almost a pound a day - 50 pounds in two months!

I started back on this plan, but with some modifications of my own - this time I’m the first two months I lost 45 pounds. I took three months off to adjust to that, and enjoy all the summer yummies, and started back, losing and additional 50 pounds in the next three months ... I have since stalled and am bouncing around in the same cushion of four pounds, but not really watching close since October, and est what I want, and don’t gain.   That’s 95 pounds gone in under 6 months!

I started watching my diet (exercise is really not as important with weight loss as is diet) a few days ago and the scale is starting to move again!

So for the  diet:  I downloaded an app that counts macronutrients - I enter my height, weight, activity, gender, etc, and it tells me how much I should eat, and of what group-I.e. fats, proteins, and carbs.

WW new program is basically the same thing, as was the older programs

the app is just free and easy and it works

if I feel like I need the group thing, I talk with my family and friends for motivation, tips, tricks, etc

Just so it is clear, this is the post I am asking the question to.

The fitbit app will do this as well as myfitnesspal. Both of them are great together. I use myfitnesspal to track all my food and it syncs with my fitbit. You can put your food into either, I just prefer myfitnesspal since adding recipes is infinitely easier. Both apps track calories, macro nutrients and how much of a calorie deficit you should have. In all honesty, once I cleaned up my eating habits I get plenty of the right calories and am not feeling deprived at all. I've been losing the weight steadily now. For myself I don't advocate any of the trend diets like Keto... it can't be healthy cutting out an entire group of macros and for me it would never be sustainable.

Most people don't cut out an entire group of macros though. A true keto diet is low carb, though some people have extremely low carbs and others are more moderate.

My experience with keto is that it seemed to help, but I had a difficult time eating all the fat and protein that it was calculated I should have. I still try to do low-carb; and not eat carbs and fat at the same time because that seems to put pounds on me.

I am beginning the body ecology diet now, because it seems like my body needs help digesting food. I think once I get those microbes in my gut that need to be there, then I might be able to get rid of that last 15-18 pounds that I keep fighting with.
