dborn
I recently reenlisted in the Navy Reserves. We have a PRT coming up in the spring. Situps, pushups, and 1.5 mile run. I am actively working out to prepare for it by running, pushups, situps and aerobic style circuit exercise. My question is when should I stop working out to give my muscles a rest to maximize my output on test day? 3 days before, 5 days, or a whole week? Or not break the routine and just go right into test day. TIA, dborn
Guest LMB
Definitely rest at least one day, if not two. Competitive athletes always taper before a competition - you should probably treat this the same way. A few days before you should lighten your workouts and then rest completely the day before.
