My fight with Depression

Hi! Srijan here, 28 year old man. I've been battling Clinical Depression for around 14-15 years. I was always a little overweight; I'm almost 30 kgs over my ideal weight now. Plus I'm borderline diabetic. Let's just say things have been getting out of hand!

I remember watching a video of runners finishing the Boston Marathon. The gamut of emotions on display made me want to experience the pain, ecstasy and relief of completing, if not a marathon, at least a 10k run.

So here I am, after a lot of false starts, starting yet again. My treatment 's finally started to show results. This time I intend to run my first 5k in July. Finished Day 1 today. Felt like I was going to die! But I made it.

I hope to get some motivation from the members of this forum. And for my friends who've just started this journey, hang in there. You'll get better, stronger and faster!

Cheers!

Hi Srijan! Today was my Day 1. Saw you posted on April 23rd. Hope you've been able to stick with it, but if not, that's okay! Today is another day and so is tomorrow. I, too, struggle with mild depression for which I am currently taking medication for. Hope you are well and are successful on your journey to complete a 5k in July! Take care!

Thank you! Congrats on taking the 1st step towards a healthier and happier you! Hope you're sticking with it through the highs and lows and all the the false starts. How's your progress so far?

Thank you! A month later, have only been able to complete two weeks. Still, better than sitting at home and sleeping! Starting week 3 the day after tomorrow.

Hope you recover soon and becomestronger than ever before! Do let me know about your running progress. Cheers!
