Rachellf
Hi. I literally just signed up and would really like to get into running. I always thought I got shin splints when I ran so I just haven't. Is there something I could do to avoid getting them or something to ease them after? I also have a bum knee. What tips can I do there? ZKRGrammy45
dairey
I also have bad knees and used to get shin splints when I first started but am now on week 8. I'd say definitely try and just go super slow. Maybe jog at the same pace you walk but just do the jogging movement. And repeat any days you can't make it through. I struggled to get through a lot of days but my body is starting to surprise me by what I'm able to do. Good luck!!
Marthac
I am not a runner but love to walk. I am on day 2 and today my knee hurts. Every step of running. Finished day 2 but don't want to hurt my knee so that I won't be able to go hiking! I understand what you are saying. One of my friends said to avoid shin splints, tap your foot about 20 times each. Not sure what to do about knee, but keep going even if you walk. Better than sitting on the couch! Hope you feel better

Marthac
I don't know how to delete my double entry! Sorry
djplong
I bought a knee brace and iced my knee down after every running session back when I was having trouble. Also used ibuprofen (Advil) from time to time. Now? Not a lick of pain in my knees. ZKRGrammy45 and cobugi
