I work for a company as a treatment advisor for soft tissue injuries and talk to a lot of runners who suffer from shin splits. This can sometimes be the result of a tibia stress fracture, but most of the time it is simply strain or trauma of the soft tissue that connects the tibia bone (shin bone) to the underlying muscle. I have included a link with more information and the treatment I recommend. Hope this info helps. Any qusetions...ask :)
