Hello - from someone who hates running!

Hi everyone! I'm a 23 year old woman from Australia who wants to learn how to enjoy running...

I just did week 1 day 1 yesterday, and my legs are ridiculously sore today! My husband has kindly agreed to run with me, despite the fact that he's already fit from playing lots of sports - yesterday he didn't even break into a sweat... meanwhile, my face looked like a wet tomato haha!

One question for anyone who has advice - if you get up in the morning to do your run, is it better to eat breakfast before or after?

Good luck all, I know I'll need it!!

When I did run in the mornings which wasnt often because I am not a fan I read that it was better to get up an hour or so earlier and eat something like a banana and drink water. Your body will perform better than with food than with out it. I couldnt manage that extra hour but if you can id say eat something practical.

Good luck I hope you keep us posted on your progress!

Hi Rachel,

I swear I was just about to open a new topic to write about this, but when I saw your post I've decided to reply to you to motivate you.

I am now at week 4 day 2. During the first three weeks of the program, I needed to literally drag myself off the couch to do it.

I hated it! I was constantly thinking, what are to other people talking about....? How was it possible that so many people enjoy this...? They must be crazy or something.

But as a competitive person that I am, I was determined to finish it (mainly to show my husband that I wont quit this one too ;)).

But please hold on Rachel for at least a couple of weeks more. Because now I LOVE IT!!!!! I seriously cannot wait to get out of work to do my run.

Trust me on this: It is going to become addictive!!! :D.

Keep it up and let us know how you are doing.

@tori - I've been running outdoors, but planning a route in advance so that I end up home when I finish :) and @Trish, thanks for the advice! When I did today's run it was in the early evening before dinner, and I preferred that to getting up early anyway!

@Dess, that is so encouraging, thank you!! Today was harder than the first day because I took a route with more hills and my legs still ache from the first day... BUT I made sure to create a 'best of Rick Astley' playlist, which made it a bit better haha!
