My wife and I have been running regularly for 6 weeks or so and she has been struggling with what friends have told her is tendonitis in the knee (left knee, inside of leg). Her friends tell her to keep running on it to buildup muscle and after several weeks she should be good to go....anyone else have this kind of issue and is this advice good advice/

most of the knee trouble that i've had has been under the patella, and has been helped by stretching out my tight i.t. band using a foam roller on the outside of the thigh. if the problem is tendinitis, that's inflammation, and the usual treatment is a couple of days' rest and anti-inflammatory meds, like ibuprofen, before easing back into activity. idk about any existing medical conditions she may have; if there are any, especially other meds that could contraindicate nsaid usage, she should probably have it looked at by a professional.

Please take her to see a doctor before she does permanent damage! This is a great community and forum, but nothing can take the place of a physical exam by a medical professional.

It's no recommended to keep running while knee or ankle is hurting. Sometime I also got knee pain while running and I read about doing exercise to strength the hips may avoid knee pain. I have been doing hips exercises for 2 weeks now and I have had not problem with my knee lately

In your wife case I think is really recomended to go see a doctor to have a final evaluation

Good luck with that
