  1. Hoping for some advice as a new runner: I happily and successfully completed the 5k Color Run run when I was in about week 6 of the C25K training programme. I ran the whole 5k (well, not very fast, but I didn't stop and I didn't walk) as the atmosphere was so great and I felt on top of the world - and previously I had never run further in one go than a little over 3k, and the 3k I had only achieved about 3 times. So - proud moment! BUT since then, my knees - the right knee in particular, rarely the left - have been a bit sore. It's a kind of dull soft ache, mostly above the knee (not on the outside or inside) but I can feel it all around the knee too sometimes, guess it radiates - and it sometimes goes away after I have jogged for a bit. I had 10 days off running after the 5k 'race' to rest up. I do knee exercises since then - about 3 weeks ago since I completed the race now - but these exercises, too, increase the soreness of my right knee. Is this common and what can I do? I am wary of just quitting for weeks on end but is that what I have to do? (I also have to cycle to and from work, have no other way of getting there, so total rest is sadly not an option). I am guessing I over-exerted myself in the 5k run but I am really hoping the injury (or whatever it is) will eventually go - but how? Advice from others very welcome as doctors only ever tell you to rest and don't show any real interest xx
  2. I did manage to take them back thankfully and I ended up going a FULL size bigger (my trainers run in half sizes). Very happy now xx
  3. Hello there more experienced runners, I bought my first ever running shoes last week. I have used them twice and the right toe is rubbing a bit (more today than last run) and I am a bit concerned the shoes aren't big enough. I went to a gait analysis session and told the assistant helping me that I know nothing about running or what kind of shoes to wear, and I am a bit worried that I wasn't informed that shoes that feel perfect in the store will often be too small when running due to expanding feet (I have since found this out online). The left foot is fine and the right shoe is fine apart from the big toe rub right at the front (as opposed to top or all around). I am only sharing this extensive info as hopefully it will help someone more experienced diagnose whether this is common in new shoes and will go away or whether I have wasted in excess of £100 - I am a bit worried as I can't afford new shoes! Many thanks in advance
  4. Hey everyone! I have just started running and am training for a 5k charity run in June! I'm using the C25k app and I love it so far. Have a concern with a possibly too small shoe but I shall post about that in a different thread I look forward to getting to know some other runners on here!
