GinaH got a reaction from Crabapple in Starting back
Hello all - I am returning to running after a few years being off because of foot injuries. Looking to take things very slowly to avoid getting injured again.

I thought weekly changes might be too much. I was (still am) quite overweight, over 50 and have never run seriously at all. I decided to try this (inspired by friends) but thought a week repeated for a month could work without being too intimidating. If I can achieve 5k by September I’ll be so pleased.

I got the c25k app so I could run a 5k near the end of April. I repeated weeks 1 and 2, but I'm determined to stay with week 3 all this week. I don't know that I will repeat any weeks from here on, but I will only run as long as I can, even if that means on the last day of the last week I am running 2 minutes and walking 2 minutes.
Saturday, I decided to do a long "run" that was at least half dirt road. I used the Nike app to track my distance because it seems to be way more accurate. The route was nearly 5K. Obviously, the c25k app stopped before I was done.
Today, I missed the dirt road that leads to Main Street, and I ran/walked several minutes before I realized my mistake. I ended up going almost 6 k. It took me over an hour.
I will probably not make that mistake again, but it was nice to know I could go that far. At this point, most of my runs consist of walking more than running. In any case, I'm really glad to have the c25k app, and the Nike app. I think they complement each other.

I've joined up to lose some weight, I've put on around 40lbs since my wedding in 2017 and need to sort myself out to get in better shape, I've done casual runni g before but never kept it up, hopefully c25k can keep me on track. I'm sound 207lbs now and looking to get down to 160ish and get some regular park runs in over summer.
I'm a bit of a yoyoer so really going to give this my best shot.

In the back of my mind I knew I couldn't keep up, but I tried. I just couldn't get those 5 minute runs done without walking. Looks like I will be stuck on week 4 for a bit. I'm not giving up though. Thanks for reading. Happy running folks!

    Hello, everyone!
I'm a 29-year-old mom of 3 living in Colorado. I'm trying to get back in shape! I worked at a hospital, moving patients for over two years. I was walking 8-12 miles a day, moving patients! I got into really great shape. I left that job almost two years ago after moving an hour away and commuting for a year. I'm lucky if I walk 2 miles in a day now. I stand all day at my current job, so I feel exhausted by the end of the day, but without getting many steps in. I really want to get back in shape! My weight hasn't changed, but I'm a lot less muscular now.
I just finished day 3 and I'm having a tough time staying motivated, but I'm looking forward to continuing this journey!
