CleBkPkr got a reaction from sarehkkk in Is it possible to dial down the intensity of C25K?
I repeated week 1 as well. I wanted to be certain I was settled in with that before moving on. One thing all of my "runner" friends have said about when they first start was it takes time... they all said repeating weeks was not a problem at all. As long as you are working it will come.
I would like some advice for a new runner. My calf muscles get pretty tight. Any suggestions for a good warm up/stretching routine?
  2. Thanks

Just go back to the day you finished, click on it to start. It will warn you that all previous data will be lost. Tap yes and away you go!

Still here and still training. For the most part I have been keeping up with my schedule. It has been a journey. Still keeping my sites on running an entire 5K and I believe I'm on track. I don't get here on the forum quite as much. The weather here has warmed up and that means doing things that have taken a backseat during the winter. Camping, backpacking and motorcycle riding... I'll keep checking in and seeing how everyone is doing. Just a little more lurking than posting going on these days. The turnover on the board seems to fit in with people completing the program, and this makes sense to me. You can always give me a nudge or message me through the forum.
Best of luck to everyone and remember... a mile is a mile, no matter how many minutes it takes to finish!

Excellent! I restarted week one just to give myself a real chance at succeeding. Tomorrow I’ll be on Week 2 Day 1
Keep me posted on your progress!

Hello! Just getting going with the app. Right now the weather here isn't fit for running so I am on the treadmill.  I purposely restarted week one. Trying to make sure I am adapted before I move to the next week. This is all very new to me but I am determined to succeed!

Today I ran for 10 minutes and 5 seconds without a walk break between. I have never run that long. The run was slightly downhill which helped, and it was towards the end of my run. For some reason, I always run better after 25-30 minutes..
I'm not sure if I will be able to run the 10K I've committed to in October, but if I continue to improve I think it can be done. I'll probably see if I can do another 5K before then and, hopefully, I won't be sick and will be able to have a faster pace/time.

I am so out of shape, looking forward to getting started. I have a tendency to not stick with things very long. Really want to do this, need to loose weight and feel better. Wish me luck!

I just finished Week 3. I am able to do the first 3 minute run, though it definitely is hard. The second 3 minute run is sooo much harder for me. Today I had to stop halfway through that one, walk for thirty seconds, and start again. I just feel out of breath. But I’m going to just repeat Week 3 at least one more time.

W3D3 with a slight change. One thing I was having trouble with was the second 3 minute run. This was my sticking point. Today I decided to continue my last 90 second walk for another 60 seconds leaving me with 2 minutes to run instead of 3. It helped! Like tremendously! Just that little change and I was able to finish without walking that last 3 minute run. Another day or two like this and I’m moving to week 4.

Hey there! My friends call me Thunder, and I am 21, female, and fairly active (but not a runner). I have to run errands for my dad all the time, which frequently involves lifting/moving things, and doing a lot of walking in between. I haven't started the c25k but I feel like I could manage the first week pretty well - maybe even the second week without too much pain and strife, but we will see.
I ultimately want to build endurance. I am not so much interested in running in races, but I definitely want to be strong and fit. I have always been relatively out of shape and at toward the max end of my recommended Body Mass Index. I want to feel good about myself and I think running is where I will find that. My ultimate goal is to be able to run 10 miles in one go with relative ease. I am not sure how long that will take but I would like to imagine with constant practice and always pushing myself I can get there in one year.
Here's to getting stronger, faster and and healthier!

    So I did it.
I got sick on Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday I was in bed, but I was determined to do the run today. I did it, but my time was not very good. I was hoping that I would get under 53 minutes. I got 54 min, 25 sec (10'53" pace per km) but I've done 53 minutes in so many practices I thought I could do better on the 5K because I would be pushing harder. I'm really sure it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm sick.
On the positive side, the fact that this is a private 5K because I couldn't walk the long distance to the city's 5K means that no one is going to get sick because I ran.

Yep. Run and than rest and run and rest.... You can do some other form of exercise on the off days but the idea is to "run" only 3 days so you get a day to recoup.

Hello Susan! Here is the one thing I have learned: Be patient! All of this takes time and sometimes I get frustrated. When that happens, I reach out to someone I know. To keep me moving I started listening to podcasts. Some are really good, others not so much lol Music is great but I need to change it up so the podcasts are nice. I won’t let myself make excuses. There are days I want to sleep in but I literally say outloud “get yer butt out of bed. It’s only a half hour”. Of course some days are longer but in general 30 minutes of hard work is sufficient.
If you need to vent, or talk or want a little motivation it helps to be accountable to someone else. You know what you need to do, but talking to someone else helps! You can always hit me up here or send me a direct message! Hang in there, you CAN do this!

I’ve always wanted to love to run. I hate it. But I started last night. Thought I was going to die. But I didn’t. Am I supposed to run a day then rest a day?

I would like to be able to run 4 miles (almost) daily, and not feel like I’m going to die.  I’d like to look forward to it as an escape and feel more energy throughout my day.
