I was a runner in high school and was told I was an overpronator. I tried New Balance and Saucony running shoes but was always in the worst pain. Eventually found myself wearing ASICS and have been wearing them since. I use the Gel Kahana because of the extra support.
Go to a runner's shoe store (there was one I always went to called A Snail's Pace; not sure if they are in other states/cities). They can look at the way you walk and run, see your strike, and make recommendations on shoes. Wear what's comfortable.
