JUST * FINALLY* COMPLETED WEEK 1 DAY 1!!! I honestly didn't expect for it to happen today and thought I would be out another day or two before I successfully made it through from start to finish! And my timing could not have been more perfect because, if you remember one of my posts last week, I mentioned that my reward to myself for completing one full session was going to be an early morning Starbucks stop on my cooldown walk home and - as it just so happened I received the one minute run prompt just as I turned the corner and could see Starbucks in my view (which was when I remembered my early-morning coffee promise to myself!) I don't think I had run so fast the entire morning and hit the parking lot as soon as the cooldown time or began! I am really feeling like taking the weekend off to recover was what really helped make it happen this morning. Tired, but incredibly happy to have made it further than I ever have!

Hmmm. That might be worth picking up! It was really awkward to run with it! I could have made an amazing milkshake while running though!

HA! I love it! So true! That's going to be my new mantra!

Just "completed" Week 1 Day 1 for the second time. Used 2 inhalers before heading out this time, but still had to walk a good bit of it. I made (what is probably the very rookie) mistake of not setting my water bottle down before I left the house which I realized quickly was awkward to carry with me. So my new goal is to make it through the week one day one routine from start to finish even if it takes me 3 to 5 tries. I have also decided that my reward for accomplishing this is going to be stopping at the Starbucks I pass by on my cool down walk. I usually get Starbucks at some point during the day and realized the last time I was out that it would be really awesome to get it early and be able to enjoy it while I'm getting ready for work in the morning, but I think I am going to save that for days when I accomplish the full routine that I set out to do that day!

Just "completed" Week 1 Day 1 for the second time. Had to walk more than I ran, but I am now setting goals that are even smaller bites of the elephant and am focusing only on getting through the entire Week 1 Day 1 routine. I take the voice prompts as recommendations and do a quick assessment of how I'm feeling (lung & pain wise) and if I have to think too long about it I consider that a sign that I'm just looking for an excuse not to push myself and try to do the run (this means I'm always about 5 seconds behind the actual routine so I don't necessarily stop running as soon as I hear the walk instruction (otherwise that would be cheating myself!) Also, you may have thought to yourself (I know I did) that you can't start C25K because you don't have running shoes or workout clothes or the best headphones (mine suck!) and it's really tempting to tell yourself that you're going to go pick up whatever you need and then start. Deep down inside you probably already know that problem isn't that you need external things to start doing this. (If this were skiing or scuba diving and that would be a different story!) What you and I and so many of us need is the internal "gear" to propel us forward and make us successful in whatever goal it is that we are trying to set for selves in attempting this. Throw on your raggedy gardening shoes and your house painting clothes and your kids Pokémon headphones if you have to but START NOW and reward yourself with those external things when you actually *need* them. Running shoes will eventually be a great thing for me to have, but I'm not doing a whole lot of running just yet so I can hold off until I've actually accomplished a full week (or maybe even two) before going out to buy them. (This doesn't apply to those with orthotic problems who genuinely need special/expensive shoes to get going.) For me it will feel extra awesome to be able to go into a specialty store and treat myself when I can actually call myself a "runner" (or more of one than I am now!) It's not easy, but you can do this! Just remember to take smaller bites of the elephant when you get overwhelmed or discouraged!

How awesome Stacia!! You can do this! Post here if you need some encouragement!

I'm right with you Southernlilmama72! Horribly out of shape (never really been "in shape" except when I was younger and had a way more amazing metabolism!) just starting C25K. Did Week 1 Day 1 yesterday and my asthma kicked 12 minutes in so I'm going to get up tomorrow and try it again until I achieve that first entire session. It might take me two or three of five tries, but I'll get there! If you need someone to team up with since we're both starting out at the same time feel free to shoot me a message at Melissathegoddess@gmail.com (or add me to your MFP friend list if you're using that app too - my userID is the same as the one here) and we can help each other through this thing together! I like going out early in the morning before people are out and about and I can feel less self conscious about what I look like or how often I need to stop to catch my breath. Have you thought about sneaking out for your session before the rest of the world starts moving? It's such a nice, quiet time and I'm really enjoying it.

I'm paying for the premium version of the app. Is there any way to get rid of the annoying green popup? I get it all the time- not just once a day when I first open the app (which is as much as I'd consider to be reasonable considering paid versions of other apps eliminate most popup advertising completely) it's a nuisance when I'm trying to post and it randomly pops up while I'm already actively trying to read or respond to stuff.

Pandora is amaaaaaaazing!! I pay for Pandora One since I have a 3-5 hour commute into the city every day, but it would be worth it not to have your runs interrupted by commercials!

What changes in your overall energy level have you noticed since starting C25K? What was your initial activity/fitness level and when did you notice any significant changes to your overall energy level? How significant has the change been (Is it something only you have noticed or everyone around you has noticed?) Have you had any changes in your *daily* energy level that you've noticed? (e.g. You're not as tired in the morning/afternoon/evening etc.) Do you wake up/get to sleep easier or sleep longer/better? Thanks for the feedback!

ARGH!!! I hate when the app lags and I double/triple post! Is there any way to delete a post? (I usually post from my iphone)

Thanks! I'll see what I can find and let you know if we try any of the recipes! I'm a terrible cook, but an amaaaazing baker so making Paleo anything seems daunting! LOL I have a friend that made dark chocolate coconut cups (like PB cups, but more awesome!) and Paleo chocolate chip cookies for his family last Christmas so I might have her join me in the kitchen for cooking support!

Do you have any awesome recipes for the holidays on your website? I would love to make some really cool Paleo Halloween treats to bring in for my boss and his two. Incredibly adorable little girls.

I hope so I finally perked up a little while after I posted that and am feeling really good now (considering it's 8 o'clock in San Francisco and I am usually dragging at this point of my night!) I'm not sure if it is from my early-morning C25K efforts or from an exceptionally good day at work but I am tempted to give day one another try tomorrow morning. And I definitely increased my water consumption today LOL! I have logged 96 ounces of water for today and only 12 ounces of Diet Coke! Can you tell me where C25K is supposed to show up on MFP? I connected to after my workout this morning but I never really saw anything on my MFP account.

My boss raves about being Paleo and he's ridiculously fit. I'm starting to look at alternatives to some of the carbs/processed stuff our family consumes. I need to pick your brain sometime for awesome family friendly stuff that even my picky eater 8 year old will love!

Thanks!! Heh. A diet cherry coke a day is my ONE crutch/guilty pleasure. I was vegan for years and still don't really eat red meat (I've never cared for the taste of it) but eat chicken and fish regularly now. I don't drink (ever) or smoke and I have a HUGE aversion to salty food (same deal as with red meat- it just tastes awful to me) so I'm not feeling a huge push to give up the only real "treat" I consume. My biggest challenge is to get more active which is what I'm most focused on at the moment. I know when I exercise more I tend to default to water to rehydrate so my soda consumption decreases so I'm expecting that to help me organically cut back on it. I am soooooo tired this afternoon. It's taking everything I have not to fall asleep at my desk (which is REALLY bad when the owner of the company sits next to you!) I was hoping that I'd gain some energy instead of losing it! I need a nap! I was just thinking this morning to post and see if others had noticed an increase in their energy levels and if they knew about when they noticed it happening. I think the admins finally got my account working! Fingers crossed that when I hit "post" this really posts!
