Poor Start

I had a serious accident 10 years ago and struggle with chronic pain. I really want to get in better shape so I thought I would try this. I only made it through 50% b4 having to stop from pain in my fused sacrilliac joint. Is it ok to break down the sessions into two until my body adjusts? Maybe do some stretching first? Has anyone out there failed the first day?
