Im starting week 7 (I started at week 5) and im running at 5.5ks but scrolling thru it looks like the 5k is based on 30mins. It helps to get you to run for thirty minutes with out stopping. Most of the time runners won't be running the full 5k in that time period when they graduate which is totally normal. If you want to push your pace to hit that goal, or your distance, go for it! I know a lot of people work on distance and speed when they finish the program using the 30 minutes as a base time of running. Hope this helps!
