Hello :)

Recommended Posts

Hey! My name is Elsa :) I'm a 22 year old self titled non exerciser. My friends have started this couch 2 5k challenge and I decided to join in. My end goal is to run in a Disney 5k! I hope I can stick with it. I need to get some running shoes as all I have are converse. Any recommendations? I also am wondering what kind of stretching I should do before each work out? Finding the motivation to exercise is hard, but I think I'm finally in a place where I want/need to get healthier. Also is there any other apps you guys recommend? Looking forward to this journey.

Hello Elsa! Welcome :) the disney 5k sounds like so much fun what a great goal!

Im a huge fan of the Brooks running shoes but they run a little expensive. Asics is a good brand too.

If you want to get healthier diet is half the battle. You need to fuel the body of a budding runner so myfitnesspal, which is a food diary helps a lot, because it keeps you accountable for what you eat and drink.

Good luck! We are all here for help and encouragement if need be.

Elsa, you're in the same boat I'm in.  This was something I was thinking about and the runDisney web pages provided me with all the more motivation.  I'll be signing up for the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend in January - though I'm only signing up for the 5K and 10K.  I'm hoping to couple of smaller events once I 'graduate' the 5K and 10K apps but I have that weekend in January staring me in the face now.  I know, it's 8 months away, but still..  It's there.

I use an app called Argus. It's great for tracking steps taken, weight, water intake and a lot more. I use it every day and check my heart rate while exercising.

I am using Argus by Azumio too.  But members here seem to favour Myfitnesspal.  I'm using a Samsung android, so the built-in S Health app is very similar to Argus.
