countrykeg
I've decided it's finally time! I've always wanted to run, always wanted to learn to love to run. The wind blowing in my hair as I run those miles without stopping, nothing on my mind but the road ahead of me, but then my chest starts to burn, my legs cramp up, and my breath seems to be nowhere in site after only a few minutes of running. I've always struggled with my weight, I've always been classified as the bigger girl. I have a few underlying medical problems that permit that weight to come off. I've tried everything but surgery. I weigh a ton more than I would've ever imagined, this is life or death. This is for me, I'm going to run, I'm going to run without stopping, I'm going to run that 5k, I'm WILL succeed! Here's to will power, and a healthier me! Have to start somewhere! Any tips of diets and exercises would be greatly appreciated tinadd
Guest TrishE
Welcome! That first step is always the hardest so youre definitely off to a great start Running is hugely mental so you have to remember to keep up your motivation. My advice, set short term reachable goals and reward yourself when you reach them. When I first started my goal was to go three weeks with completing each running segment without stopping and once I reached it I would buy myself a cute running tank top as a "go you!" gift. This always helped when I would struggle to keep going especially when my weight loss plateaued. As for diet, my suggestion would be to make small and reasonable changes at first until you get used to dieting. No soda or sugary drinks and drink a ton of water, shoot for a gallon a day. Yes you will be running to the bathroom a lot but all the water cleanses your system and will help you lose weight. Try to replace bad snacks with fruits and veggies and choose healthier options for things like butter and milk or things you dont want to cut out right away (like bread for me). My last piece of advice, invest in a good pair of running shoes. Yes they are expensive but if you can swing it theyll be totally worth it. Good luck! I hope you keep us posted on your progress.
