Turmeric works for me, it has helped a lot with post run aches. It is not easy for the body to utilize the active ingredient though. My understanding is that the active ingredient is fat soluble but also needs Piperine to be present, which is found in fresh crushed black pepper. This is water soluble. So lightly frying turmeric and black pepper with onions in oil as the base for a stew and then adding water should do the trick.
