I was a cross country runner in high school and an injury sidetracked me and I more than doubled my weight from a lean energetic 135 to just shy of 300 pounds. I spent years struggling between wanting to get back in shape and just saying F@€k it! That was me for over 20 years. The jovial fat kid.
Earlier this year, after having gradually gotten my weight down to about 275, I had some throat surgery, and was unable to eat solid food for nearly a month. My weight over 4 weeks dropped below 230. That's when I decided to take advantage of the situation and do something to keep the weight off. I set myself a goal to complete a 5K by the end of the year.
That's when I found C25K.
I'm not perfect. I have struggled with some injuries, and lost my way a couple times. But my weight is staying down, and I'm working out more than I have in years. It feels good in my head and heart, even when it aches in my legs and back.
On October 8th, I will finish my first 5K since running cross country in high school.
Thank you C25K, for being my most reliable running buddy.
