lillybell 9 Report post Posted July 24, 2016 Hi , I have just downloaded the c25k app and am now terrified I have made this step. I am 54, obese and an avid couch hugger but have decided my life is passing me by and I am so unfit I don't know how to recover myself. I overheard someone talking about the app and a wee lightbulb came on in my head and I decided to give it a go......I think I have gone mad !! Not sure where to start....should I buy running shoes straight away , do I need Lycra ( omg I don't think the world is ready for a shock like that ) do I actually have to run on day one ...I don't usually walk never mind run. What do I need with me ..water, face wipes, sweat band , emergency whistle , flares ??? Oh lord , what have I let myself in for !!! 9 Kateliterally, AudreyLauren, Lyndseyn and 6 others reacted to this

Miowka 1 Report post Posted August 1, 2016 Hi, I am Miowka. I live in Ireland and have started using the app today. I am 51 years old. I started jogging at age 47 but had to stop at Christmas due to a minor medical condition which has now been corrected. I am back to the start and looking forward to getting my slow running and jogging back. I was never comfortable doing more than 5k and am hoping to get to 5k by mid October. I know I can do it because at 47 I had never run before and with gentle, gradual persistent practice I built up to 10 over a 12 month period. For me, training a maximum of 7 days over a 14 day period with seven rest days worked well - that way I looked forward to the workout and was never too sore or exhausted. Good luck to you all. 1 Tanjal reacted to this

topdancer 1 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 Hi I'm a newbie to the forum.I live in New Zealand and am abt to tackle the 10km programme.Live around a farming district so all runs are off-road and hills. I am 63 but don't let age enter the equation as long as I enjoy the run. The 5km I loved and looked forward to each new run. I'm hoping it'll be the same with the 10km. Good to see so much support here.
Kristina G. 1 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 ¡Hola! just downloaded app, I'm flat footed and suffer great pain just by walking alone; I wonder if anybody has any tips for me? I really want to be active. Thanks in advance. Hi!! I have severe flat feet also. I completed the program a few years ago and got hooked on running. I was NOT a runner prior to this because my feet would swell up so much! For me, incrementally adding to the running time helped build muscles in my feet. I won't lie, it was painful. But with time, I was able to run 15 miles! I would suggest using K-tape on your feet when you run. Also arnica really helps with the inflammation. Best of luck!! 1 Iluv2fsh reacted to this
Anmol Menon 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2016 Hello all! I'm a 25 year old guy. I used to be pretty active and into soccer etc. But since I started working a couple of years back, I've really become unfit. I am severely flat footed too. So I'd recommend shoes that have good cushioning. Pre run and post running stretch routine is important to prevent muscle soreness at the end of your training. I just started yesterday. Currently covered 3.2km in 30min. All the best to all of you who have taken the first step, getting out of the couch. Aiming for 5km mark soon.
Dangelayng 3 Report post Posted September 10, 2016 I am preparing to walk out my front door in just a few minutes to begin my lifestyle change. I am 52 years old and a year ago I weighed 228 pounds. I carried this on my 5ft 3 inch frame. Both of my anterior knees were replaced 3 years ago. I was prediabetic, high blood pressure, horrible joint pain. I had gastric sleeve surgery in August of 2015. My weight is down to 169. I feel better. However I know that I can do better by adding exercise to my program. I am committed, I was an athlete in my youth and I intend to become one and maintain the status for the rest of my life. On my way now. 3 StephW, Laurie434 and Iluv2fsh reacted to this

saladspinner 1 Report post Posted October 16, 2016 With the run/walk program you just need to do what you can do, like walk/fast-walk sometimes until you get stronger to run more of the time. You can only start where you are,, no one has the choice to start anywhere else.
